Project Information
The Brief: Create more privacy between two bedrooms in a residential home.
Products used: PhoneStar and EVA Foam

For this project, a homeowner wanted to reduce noise transfer between two bedrooms in their home.

PhoneStar, a high-performance acoustic board, was applied to the existing wall. The cardboard structure of PhoneStar is filled with loose sand which effectively dampens sound vibrations, minimising the noise transfer between the two rooms.

To create an effective sound barrier, the following layers were applied:

  1. EVA Foam – A layer of EVA foam was applied directly to the existing wall. This helped decouple the structure, preventing sound vibrations from transferring through solid contact points.
  2. PhoneStar – The high-performance PhoneStar soundproofing boards were installed over the EVA foam.
  3. Plasterboard – To complete the installation, plasterboard was applied over the PhoneStar panels.
