Fletcher Living’s Okahukura Apartments in Auckland required a flooring system that exceeded the G6 building code for noise control, ensuring long-term peace and quiet for residents.
The brief: | Reduce impact noise from the level above |
Structural floor type: | concrete slab |
Products used: | GenieMat FIT08 and GenieMatFF25 |
When a high-intensity gym was built directly above an upmarket restaurant, sound control was a top priority.
The goal was to upgrade the sound insulation performance of the existing concrete slab and significantly reduce the transfer of impact noise from heavy-weight drops.
To solve the issue, GenieMat FF25 was installed as a floating floor system beneath a lightweight timber floating floor, with GenieMat FIT08 added on top. This combination provided both structural decoupling and impact absorption, ensuring the quiet dining atmosphere below remained undisturbed.
