Fletcher Living’s Okahukura Apartments in Auckland required a flooring system that exceeded the G6 building code for noise control, ensuring long-term peace and quiet for residents.
The brief: | Find an acoustic solution to vibrations and sound caused by shared swimming pools |
Structural floor type: | Concrete |
Products used: | GenieMat FF |
The Royal Atlantis offers a variety of private and shared swimming pools, bars, and restaurants on multiple levels for guests and residences.
Activity in the various swimming pools creates structure-borne noise and vibration, which can travel throughout the multi-story building creating discomfort and annoyance to the guests and residents. Therefore the swimming pool structures needed to be fully isolated from the main structural slabs.
The acoustical consultant approved GenieMat FF for its natural frequency of 12 HZ at loads of between 400-1800 psf. Depending on the type of pool. There are different ways to deploy the GenieMat FF system. In this case, the GenieMat FF was laid across the entire surface and a continuous slab was poured directly on top without the need for plywood formwork, which creates uniform load distribution, eliminating the requirement for site-specific load design.
Its simplified installation process guarantees reduced installation time and a higher contractor success rate.
